“Can I collect it today?” Answering store-pickup questions on WhatsApp

Separate store opening hours, pickup availability and order readiness before telling a shopper to travel to your branch.

A store being open does not mean an order is ready

Before telling a shopper to come today, confirm that your store offers collection for the item, identify the correct branch, and explain how the buyer will know the order is ready. Opening hours and preparation time answer different questions. If readiness has not been checked, do not turn “we are open” into “you can collect it now.”

A coffee grinder may be available online but dispatched from a separate warehouse. A gift set may be in the branch but still need packing. Neither situation is settled by sending the shop’s map pin.

Ask whether the shopper has already ordered

For a new purchase, explain the actual collection option in your checkout, any eligible-item restrictions, and whether payment must be completed online. Do not invent a pickup option or tell someone to choose delivery and fix it later.

For an existing order, follow your store’s approved verification process before discussing its status. A person must check whether changing delivery to collection is possible. Do not mark it as changed merely because the customer asked on WhatsApp.

Three checks before a pickup promise
CheckUseful answer
Where? The named collection branch and its verified address, not just the company’s main office.
When?Collection hours and the readiness notice to wait for. Explain a preparation estimate as an estimate.
How?The supported ordering and payment steps, plus the collection reference your store requires.

Keep the reply useful without inventing readiness

Read a pickup reply that avoids an unnecessary trip

Hypothetical example for a store that genuinely offers branch collection. It is not a customer conversation or a generated TajirTalk response.

“Collection is available for this item from [branch]. Choose [the actual collection option] before paying. The branch is open [verified hours], but please wait for [your store’s actual readiness notice] before travelling. If you have already placed the order for delivery, our team needs to check whether it can be changed.”

Replace the brackets with verified details. If your store has no readiness notification, describe its real confirmation process rather than promising a message that will never arrive.

If the shopper says “I am already outside,” stop repeating the general FAQ. Direct them to the branch’s approved contact or a team member who can check the order. An automated reassurance cannot locate a parcel on a shelf.

Give TajirTalk a branch-specific pickup FAQ

TajirTalk supports merchant-written questions and answers for AI replies. Write separate answers for collection availability, the collection address, hours, and the readiness process. Name the branch in each answer if your locations differ. Review the information when opening hours or the collection process changes.

Keep live order references, customer names and collection codes out of a shared FAQ. The FAQ explains your service; it is not a record of which individual orders are ready.

Test the question that can cause a wasted journey

Review replies to three internal questions: “Can I collect in an hour?”, “Can I collect from another branch?”, and “Someone else will collect for me.” The answer should use only your actual policy and send order-specific exceptions to a person. Do not request identity documents in a general chat just to answer whether collection exists.

If collection is not available, offer only delivery options your store really supports. Use the delivery-before-an-occasion guide when the buyer’s real concern is timing.
